I’ve spent more than 30 years in sales, business development and leadership — and the deeper I went, the clearer one truth became: the hardest part of selling isn’t skill. It’s emotional strain.
People think prospecting breaks down because of poor technique.
It rarely does.
It breaks down because the system underneath the salesperson is fragile, chaotic or unclear… and the emotional weight of that slowly erodes confidence.
I’ve lived that myself.
The long days lost to research.
The knot in your stomach when the pipeline dries.
The feeling of constantly catching up.
The quiet pressure no one talks about.
For years I thought the answer was to work harder, push more, try again.
It wasn’t.
The real shift came when I rebuilt my entire approach around clarity, psychology, rhythm and structure — instead of noise, tactics and hope.
That shift became the foundation of what I teach today.

Why I created the SmartSell: Prospect to Client Setup
SmartSell wasn’t born in a workshop.
It came from experience, decades of it.
From corporate roles in FMCG, automotive, financial services and senior living… to training senior leaders, fee-earners and sales teams across the UK and Europe… to supporting 2-star generals and ambassadors transitioning into commercial roles…
I saw the same pattern everywhere: Good people, capable sellers — working in systems that made prospecting far harder than it needed to be.
The SmartSell Setup is my answer to that.

For years I trained many companies and individuals around the world on using LinkedIn. I always mentioned that LinkedIn was only one piece of the puzzle. External practices were required like following up, building relationships and crafting emails.
